Smoothie Bowls

For both Chelsea and I, our husbands work abnormal work hours so sometimes weekday mornings become our "weekends." For my little family, you can sometimes find us at Islands cafe, drinking a latte and sharing an Acai bowl (so yummy!). As much as I would like to have this smoothie bowl every morning, it's just not plausible financially so we wanted to try and make something similar that we could have at home.

We made these miniature smoothie bowls for our kids and they loved them (probably because of the presentation haha). No, but seriously, there is just banana, greek yogurt, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries with a bit of honey for flavour  as the base in the smoothie bowl.  Then we topped it with fresh blueberries, unsweetened coconut flakes and raspberry granola clusters with chia seeds from KIND snacks. A simple snack that is packed with nutrients and fruit for a perfect kid's lunch at home.

Here's was our "adult" Acai bowl, minus the Acai lol. Being almost in my third trimester I make sure to eat a good, healthy portion to help this baby grow and so this was the perfect amount for lunch for me. Plus, KIND's granola is made from a blend of oats, brown rice, buckwheat, millet, amaranth and quinoa with limited amounts of added sugar! It is the perfect added crunch to cereal, smoothies bowls, cookies or just a snack for the kids.

I still look forward to the mornings that our family gets out of the house together and heads down close to the beach for an Acai bowl but on the days we don't, this smoothie bowl is the perfect summer lunch!
