Holiday Gift Guide For Kids

If you are looking for Christmas gift ideas for a child aged 3 all the way up to 10 you have come to the perfect place. Today we are sharing so many great options that make amazing gifts for children and things that we actually want to give to our own children. We focus on toys that spark creativity & imagination, help with gross and fine motor skills and encourage our kids to engage in a new story. We hope you find something that would be amazing for a child in your life to unwrap, as we get together and celebrate this Christmas season.

Mattel’s Toys and Joys list is filled with lots of great ideas for kids but our favourite has to be this Hot Wheels set. Cruz is rarely seen without a car in his hands and he is just at the right age to start building some tracks and get some races going in the living room. I think this will be a hit for him and frankly all of my kids will be using this Hot Wheels Epic Crash Dash. The set features five crash zones with two loops and a motorized booster to keep cars moving but the big question is how many cars can be racing at once before there is an awesome crash?!

Lush bath bombs are an excellent stocking stuffer for both adults and kids. Our kids love how the bath bomb changes the colour of the bath and adds bubbles. For Christmas, Lush has some adorable new bath bombs such as the Snow Drift Bath Bomb, Candy Cane Bubble Bar, Reindeer Bubble and Cinnamon Roll Bubble Bar. Each one smells amazing and we love that each item is handmade and made from fresh ingredients. Some of our favourite scents are the minty-fresh Snow Drift and the citrusy Penguin Bath Bomb.

Check out these beautiful books from Zonderkidz - a great idea for any child this Chrsitmas. Zonderkidz inspires young readers with Christian books and inspirational content that reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. We love this Faithful Friends book, that has whimsical handmade doll photographs that help illustrate the stories of over 40 men and women of the bible. They have many picture books to choose from such as Once Upon the Very First Christmas that are lovely to read leading up to Christmas Day.

One thing you can count on us playing all year round is sports! We love getting together homeschool families for some big group sport activities, playing catch in the backyard, or mini stick hockey in the living room. Franklin Sports carries a wide variety of sporting goods as well as licensed MLB, NFL, MLS, and NHL gear. We can easily find Christmas gifts for our kids here; we love their NFL Door Jam Football Target, Archery Set, 2nd-Skinz Batting Gloves, Sliding Shorts for baseball, etc.
Big Franklin Sports fans over here and I love that you can find products for so many different sports either at their online store or at Target, Dick’s, Walmart and Amazon.

Next up we have a fan favourite as we grew up listening to Adventures in Odyssey and now our kids are hooked on it as well. Focus on the Family produces amazing content that teaches our kids biblical character traits through story. I think my favourite Adventures in Odyssey story is The Underground Railroad and even after all these years, I still enjoy listening to new adventures in the car with my kids. Focus on the Family produces many other great Christmas gifts for kids if you are looking for any Christian resources such as books, movies, or games - you can find these online or if you are local they have a small store in Langley.

Karen Kinsgbury has been a favourite author of ours for many years. She has an entire collection of adult fiction books all about the well beloved Baxter Family. Recently Karen wrote a children’s series based on the Baxter family as well that our kids have enjoyed reading. Her latest title, Just Once, is a perfect Christmas gift for an reader on your list. It’s a story centred around World War II and we can’t wait to read it this holiday season. Her stories are always heart felt and draw the reader - we know this is one you will love. You can find this book at Simon and Schuster as well as many other titles to add to your bookshelf.

Cairo has been asking for The Action Bible for a few months now and I cannot wait to give this to him to help bring the bible to life in a new way with exciting pictures. David C Cook Publishing also produces this book from the same line called Heroes and Villains and it is a full-colour guide to various Bible characters and gives fascinating facts and figures about so many different familiar people in the Bible. Plus a great Christmas gift is this Bible trivia game where clues are given and you are trying to guess the thing/person/place from the bible. Cairo and I like to play against each other and he can give me a run for my money at times!

Toy animals are one of the most played with items in our home. Our kids have loved using animals to make set ups, stories and scenes for so many years. Schleich is a brand we love in our home and have many different animals, unicorns and play sets. The quality is excellent and we have had some for almost 10 years in our home and they are still in great condition. What makes these animals different is the attention to details on each piece, making them look realistic. The Bayala line is a collection of beautiful, unique unicorns. Rose Quartz, the limited edition pink unicorn, Pearl, and Opal are all new ones we are adding this year. If your children like play dress-up then the Beauty Horse Akhal-Teke Stallion is a perfect choice as you can style the horse’s hair. The Pet Hotel is a full scene featuring many different pet animals such as bunnies, cats, dogs and even guinea pigs with so many details such as a scratching post, seesaw etc.

Ronnie’s Seeds is a Canadian brand that makes the most delicious sunflower seeds. They offer so many different flavours such as dill pickle, lightly salted, jalapeΓ±o cheddar, gourmet seasoned and our favourite, nacho cheese. Ronnie’s seeds comes from a farm in Manitoba where the seeds are locally grown, roasted and seasoned right there in Manitoba. They are the perfect snack to throw in your bag as you watch your children play sports, on a trip to the beach, or simply in your backyard. You can find these all over Canada in your local grocery stores (for us it’s Meridian Farm Market) or some gas stations as well.

Bendon has a vast selection of educational and engaging activities for children and so many of their products are used in our homes. These make great gifts as they have character themed activities, activity kits, colouring books, stickers, etc. We love all the educational items they carry as it sparks a ton of creativity through play. Rayne is holding a magnetic tin (they have lots of themes to choose from) which lets your child dress up dolls with clothing that is magnetic - such a great idea for car trips this Holiday Season. Bendon also has wooden magnetic boxes that contain anything from animals to the 50 US States to the Alphabet and these are some of our favourite activities to pull out for at-home learning.

Raincoast Books has some amazing new Christmas titles this year! The Christmas songbook will be treasured in our home as each page plays a different Christmas carol. The adorable animal illustrations bring a whimsical feel to this book and I know my girls will love hearing the music. 100 Athletes That Shaped World History is part of a bigger series that our older boys have enjoyed. Each page introduces a new athlete and shares the impact that athlete had on the world. It is an awesome non-fiction book to add to any sport lover. Raincoast also carries many puzzles such as this 500 piece Festive Fur Balls puzzle which we will bust out during the Christmas season and work on as a family. The last book we want to highlight for you is Dasher Can’t Wait for Christmas - a delightful tale about Dasher the reindeer who ends up trying to find his way back to Santa with the help of a little child.

For me, Purdys always reminds me of Christmas. My mom always used to put Purdys chocolate bells in the bottom of my stocking growing up and I remember my Grandma would often have the large Purdys chocolate box sitting under her tree as a gift from her brother. The Dark Favourites and Milk Favourites box are an easy hostess gift for any chocolate lover. As moms, we love to buy the Stocking Stuffer set and slip them into our children’s stockings. You could keep it all together or even open it up and share it with a few children. The Santa’s lodge advent calendar is the perfect size as each day holds a variety of chocolate, however there are many other advent calendars to choose from including a vegan or Braille option. This year the Chocolate and Roasted Nuts combo is a new one for us that we are excited to try, but I don’t know if anything will beat our favourites, the Sweet Georgia Browns. The Sweet Georgia Browns are the perfect mix of chocolate, nuts and caramel and we simply love them!

Looking for a unique option for an Advent Calendar? Harper Collins carries many books we love including this Usborne Advent Calendar, which offers a different book each day for December 1-25. Next, our girls all love doing sticker books and the Sticker Dolly Dressing the Nutcracker and First Sticker Book Christmas are great choices for the holiday. The illustrations are beautiful and our girls love doing them on a rainy day or we often bring them into the car for travel because they are easy to use and don’t make a mess. Our favourite series for toddlers and preschoolers is That’s Not My….. We have owned so many different titles over the years but it all started with β€œThat’s Not My Tractor.” The holiday version of That’s Not my Christmas Tree will be a hit for Rayne and Kovie.

Djeco is the brand behind so many of our favourite craft and art activities for our kids. However, they have two newer lines; Pomea and Crazy Motors. The Pomea dolls are beautifully crafted, each with a unique clothing set and there are so many different skin tones to choose from. Our girls love pretending to play mom and love putting their babies to bed in a sleep sack and then in a crib. Djeco’s newest cars line called Crazy Motors is perfect for little hands. There are different characters and different vehicles and even a play road map that kids can put together and drive their vehicles on. All of these items you can find locally at Vancouver Kidsbook, Dilly Dally, Buddies Toys Stores and many other toy stores in BC.

We hope you found something here that can help in your gift giving this year. We always try and teach our kids that giving gifts is just one way to show love so we hope as we give them gifts that they can feel a little bit of love from us. There truly are so many amazing companies in this list and we were so thankful to partner with all of them and to show you all a few new ideas to give a child in your life this year.
