Winter and Rain Gear for Kids

You and I both know the need to get outside with our kids - it literally can change moods. I know when I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, unmotivated, or even feel like I need a break, getting outdoors really does wonders. Yeah it might be plain “easier” to stay in our loungewear and stay indoors but it is always better to do the harder thing of packing everyone up and getting outside because we are ALL better for it.
We are deep into Autumn here with cold days and even a bit of snow, so the need to wear quality jackets/mittens/gloves, etc. is so important to be able to stay outside and enjoy it. This year our kids have been decked out in Jan & Jul, a local Vancouver company that is set on making sure that childhood is full of adventure.

Our girls were so pumped about these pink boots! We love that these Toasty-Dry Lite Winter Boots are waterproof but have a cozy warm lining that make them perfect to wear in rain, slush, or snow. These boots are so light you guys it is amazing because big chunky boots make it hard for our little kids to play in. Let’s skip to the good part - they are machine washable!

Rayne is scootering along in the Cozy Dry Waterproof Playsuit (unicorn), Toasty Dry Winter Boots (pink), and the Knit Bear Beanie (cream). We love that Jan & Jul has so many fun patterns for their outdoor gear as well as some solid prints so there is a huge variety to pick from.

Jan & Jul’s waterproof line is made with bionic-finish technology from Germany with fully taped seams. Nobody wants to be outside on cold and rainy days if they can’t stay warm and dry. Jan and Jul’s products are designed in Vancouver, BC by moms that understand the challenges of rainy days. It’s easy to get outside and stay cozy-dry with this quality waterproof gear. The oldest four kids here are seen wearing their Cozy-Dry Rain Jackets that are waterproof and have a fleece lining which makes them the perfect jacket for us here in the Pacific Northwest.

Kovie and Cruz are decked out in Jan & Jul’s fleece clothing which is perfect for layering. I’ve actually never owned fleece clothing for any of my kids and I have no idea why because it is so versatile. On the warmer Autumn days it is perfect on its own and then on colder days its a great base layer. These are of course machine washable, durable, and quick drying. I’m thankful for all of these things because both Kovie and Cruz are super active and these pieces will last through their busy days.

Chelsea (below) and I are both decked out in Jan & Jul’s Womens Pacific Rain Jacket. There are a few other colours to choose from and they have the same great feature’s as the kids rain jackets. They are windproof, waterproof and have a breathable shell. It is essential to have a great rain jacket in the Pacific Northwest and this one ticks all the boxes of being functional and flattering.

We got everyone a pair of their fleece-lined rain pants so that we can play hard outside on the playground or on the outdoor hockey rink and not worry about getting wet. Jan & Jul carries a fleece lined rain pant and also a single layer pant and they range in patterns/solid colour from 1Y-10Y. All the technological specs can be found on their website here but these pants are going to be perfect outdoor gear for our kids - especially for chasing Cruz!

Lastly, Jan & Jul have the cutest little beanies and waterproof mittens. Our kids have been wearing these outside the past couple weeks and the mittens are so long and have that elastic cuff so you can tighten them around jackets and it just works so well to keep their hands warm and dry. The beanies have a removable faux fur pom-pom so that you can wash the beanies easily and their are fleece lined to provide so much warmth.

Safe to say that we have found amazing rain and cold gear for our kids and us and we wanted to share this incredible company with you all. Please check them out and support this Canadian company Jan & Jul.
