Christmas Gift Ideas from Learning Resources

Sprinkling in a few learning games for our fellow homeschool families that are looking to add a few gifts under the tree that help develop learning through play. We love Learning Resources for all that they carry in this department and we are excited to show you a few new activity boxes to use at home this winter.

The Stem Explorers Series- Learning Resources has created a variety of different stem activities that are ready to use to encourage children to create, assess and make changes to their creations. There are a variety of topics to choose from such as Machine Makers and Bridge Builders. Both boxes come with a set of cards with different challenges encouraging children to engineer a bridge or simple machine.

Let’s Go Bento! - An adorable lunch box container filled with a variety of activities for preschoolers and kindergarten aged children. There are plastic snack items for counting, letters for working on beginning sounds and cvc words, and plate cards where children can match the matching shapes.

Skill Builder (Kindergarten & Dinosaur) Activity Sets - There are so many activity sets to choose from and various levels which make great open and go activity boxes. I love to add a fresh activity to our normal homeschool day by adding in one of these with Ezri or even my two younger preschoolers for a hands on learning time. Pretty fun that they have some themed ones such as Dinosaur that are exciting for Cruz and develop his fine motor skills, critical thinking, and early math.

Alphabet Soup Sorter - If you have a toddler, preschooler or a child starting in kindergarten this is an excellent manipulative to have in your home. There is a can for each letter of the alphabet, filled with uppercase letters, lowercase letters and picture cards. The cards are all made from durable cardboard making them easy for little hands to hold. You can pour a couple cans together in a basket and have your child sort the pictures and letters into the correct hands, or simply use the contents of one can as you explore each letter of the alphabet.

Friday’s Fruit Fiesta Game is a bright and colourful alphabet game with a bird theme. Children work of letter identification in a fun and engaging way. There are our favourite types of games to play with our younger children, where they don’t even realize they are learning!

For toddler and preschool hands the Helping Hands Fine Motor Tool set offers a variety of grips and tools for children to explore and experiment with. We use some of these tools to pick up animals to sort, squirt water droplets when mixing colours or grabbing pom poms to sort colours.

Learning Resources is a great place to start when you are looking for a few games or learning activities for your children. We love that you can find them easily on Amazon or at your local Walmart, Target and other stores.
